EDITED 03/02/2012 In Response to Common Questions:
Q: NDSL won't turn on or charge
A: Fortunately we can fix your DS Lite System. Unfortunately it can be very hard to accurately diagnose this issue without having the system in front of us. For those of you interested in self repair, these symptoms can indicate a faulty f2 fuse, crimp in the upper lcd cable, dead ds lite battery or twisted battery contacts on your ds lite battery connector, etc. In this case we strongly recommend sending your system into our shop for our professional ds lite repair service.
Q: NDSL flashing orange light
A: In this case, we have written up a guide on how to fix the ds lite flashing orange light. The short answer is that you are likely looking at replacing the upper lcd or lower lcd, or replacing the f2 fuse.
Q: DS Lite shows a green lite at power up then goes dark.
A: This is a very similar symptom to those above. Again, we are looking at a break somewhere in the chain of power from the battery through the LCD screens. Anytime there is a break, the system will automatically shut off. Again, the break could be a blown F2 fuse, crimped top LCD or bottom LCD screen (in which case you need to replace the whole lcd screen), or even a bad L2/L4 inductor. In this type of situation, we highly recommend having our professional staff diagnose and repair your ds lite system.
Q: There appears to be a crack in my ndsl touch screen
A: In this case, here is the question: did the touch screen crack on its own, or did both the DS Lite touch screen and underlying lower LCD screen crack? In most cases, if you see color distortion around the crack, you have both a cracked touch screen and bottom lcd screen. If you can feel the crack, but not see it on the screen, you probably only have a broken touch screen. In either case, this again is a difficult repair, but our DS Lite Lower LCD Repair video can help. We do however recommend sending your system in for professional ds lite repair service.
Q: My DS Lite is very hard to keep upright
A: This is a classic case of a worn out DS Lite hinge. You are definitely looking at having to replace the DS Lite hinge, which is a fairly easy repair (all things being relative of course). You should however check for cracks in the plastic shell around the hinge (right hand side). If the plastic is broken at all you are going to have to replace both the DS Lite shell and the hinge. We have a free how to replace a DS Lite hinge and shell video that can help you in the process, but if that looks too difficult you can always send it in for us to repair your ds lite for you.
