What Kind Of DS Do I Have

4/5/12
Not sure what type of DS system that you have?? There are 5 types of DS systems. For us to be able to help you repair or get what you need or want for your system, we need to know which one you have.

Just because your child calls it a DS, doesn't mean that is the correct model name when you are ordering batteries, repair parts, or services.

Here is a quick and simple way to find out. Turn your system over and look at the back. It is in a larger font and right below game slot 1. It will be one of the 5 types which include:
  • Nintendo DS
  • Nintendo DS Lite
  • Nintendo DSi
  • Nintendo DSi XL
  • Nintendo 3DS
Back of DS Lite

It is important to know which system you have so that we can diagnose any problems or get you the right parts for your particular system. They all may look similar but they are very different and most parts are not interchangeable between the systems.

The Nintendo DSi and DSi XL are the most common ones to be mixed up, yet they are the most different. Parts for a DSi XL are typically more expensive than those of the DSi. It is very important to know the difference between them when speaking with us concerning any issues or problems and when placing an order for repair or parts.

If the writing is worn off on the back of your system, the DS Lite is the only one that has the power slider switch on the outside, right hand side.  The others have a power button on the inside.  The DS power button is rectangular, above the Dpad. DS and DS Lite do not have cameras.  DSi and DSi XL have cameras, and round power buttons below the D-pad.   DSi is 5 1/4" x 2 3/4 ", DSi XL is 6" x 3 1/2".
